Small Business Empowerment Program Manager

The Street Vendor Project seeks an experienced and dedicated Small Business Empowerment Program Manager to develop and lead our small business development program for street vendors. Reporting to the Managing Director, this person will be responsible for providing street vendor small business owners with the tools, resources, and skills needed to grow their businesses.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Outreach and community engagement:

  • Facilitate informational workshops and presentations on street vendor rules and regulations, both in-person and digitally through webinars, social media, etc.
  • Create in-language materials on available and upcoming small business assistance programs and services
  • Conduct outreach in collaboration with member and partner organizations, including canvassing in-person
  • Effectively communicate information about SVP’s services, programs and projects to street vendor members

Intake and technical assistance

  • Manage communication with street vendors requesting small business assistance
  • Keep log of inbound assistance requests for reporting purposes
  • Hold technical assistance consultations with street vendor members in-language and/or in coordination with relevant language staff to advise on topics including setting up bank accounts, taking e-payments, and using social media to market their businesses

Program development and implementation 

  • Develop and implement programs and workshops that support the health and vibrancy of street vendor small businesses
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of SVP’s ‘Hire A Vendor’ Program and other publications and events aimed at supporting street vendors
  • Like most roles in a small organization, this role is flexible and the exact duties may contain other tasks and duties, for example translating, interpreting, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 5 years of experience with economic development or small business services;
  • Excited about working across multiple cultures and is flexible and patient when communicating with people who speak different languages and hold varying levels of digital literacy;
  • Familiar with issues and policies impacting street vendor small businesses;
  • A thoughtful communicator with excellent interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills;
  • Demonstrates a problem-solving mentality and ability to show poise and compassion in engaging with street vendors;
  • A proven project manager with ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with varying goals and timelines;
  • Experienced in organizing data and developing internal and external communications;
  • Relentlessly dedicated to building the power of working class, immigrant communities of color to incite transformative social and economic justice;
  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written), and comfortable conducting outreach, workshops, counseling in Spanish.

Must be Bilingual in Spanish and English

TIME COMMITMENT: Full Time Schedule

START DATE: September 1, 2023

SALARY

Salary range is $57,000 – $65,000 commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with great flexibility in terms of scheduling. SVP is an equal opportunity employer.
