ABOUT
SVP
This spring, hit the streets and explore the city by joining the Street Vendor Project Scavenger Hunt!
The Street Vendor Project Scavenger Hunt is an annual citywide adventure in which New Yorkers and tourists alike sign up to complete fun challenges while meeting the street vendors who make our city unique, trying new foods, and competing to win prizes–all while supporting NYC’s only street vendor organization!
The Street Vendor Project Scavenger Hunt is a fundraiser supporting the Street Vendor Project (SVP), a membership-based organization of over 3,000 street vendors working together to defend the rights and improve the working conditions of the 20,000 people who sell food and merchandise on the streets of NYC. All registration fees and donations will go directly to funding language justice, as our bimonthly membership meetings are simultaneously translated into 6 languages. Learn more about SVP.
HOW TO PLAY
The Scavenger Hunt will be live from Saturday May 4 – Sunday May 17, 2024.
To play, you’ll form a team with friends, family, or co-workers through the registration page
Registered teams will then gain access to a mobile app, unlocking ‘missions’ that you must complete by answering street food trivia, hitting the streets to meet vendors and try their wares, and more!
Once you’ve completed the ‘mission,’ teams will upload photos to the app, gaining points for each mission they complete. Teams also earn points for every donation they raise towards SVP’s translation fund!
When the game closes on May 17, look out for the tallied results and awards, or join us at our closing ceremony to meet your fellow players and collect your prizes in person!
REGISTER TO PLAY
We want everyone to be able to play the scavenger hunt. If the registration fee is prohibitive, please email Rachel at RAimee@urbanjustice.org to ask for a discount code.
We encourage all players to donate $25 or more if possible, to support the work of the Street Vendor Project and gain points for your team! All registration fees and donations will go directly to funding language justice, as our bimonthly membership meetings are simultaneously translated into 6 languages.
DONATE TO A TEAM
Teams are awarded 10 points per every donation by a unique donor on a unique day, regardless of the amount of the donation (with the minimum eligible donation being $10).
- For example, if 10 people donate $25 each, the team gets 100 points.
- If one person makes 10 donations of $25 on a single day, the team gets 10 points.
